2017 reads!

before i jump into 2018's reads.....i wanted to do a recap on last years reads!

2017 was an okay reading year.
i started good but i ended it hating the idea of reading.
i don't know what happened.
if I'm being honest, i think it was the goodreads challenge. i was over it and i started a lot of books that i didn't finish cause i just didn't care about them. i still have 1 to finish from 2017. one from 2016 AND ONE FROM 2015!!!! (and that's just a picture book, so that should tell you how i feel about that one).

my goal this year is to a) finish those 3 books.
b) read at least 12 (that's my current goal! on goodreads). i KNOW i can surpass that and I'm hoping to make it to 30 (to celebrate my 30th) but secretly I'm aiming for 52!!!!
i already finished 2 books but ya just never know. you know?

the last couple of years, i did a recap on each book and how i felt but i thought this year, i'd change it up and just label them how they worked for me.
from fave to least liked....

you can see my previous years posts if you want more ideas (2016, 2015) on what to read. and if you just want a general list of all the books I've read since I've started blogging, ya can check em out HERE! (at the very bottom is a list of books that i just didn't click with as well.)

2017 MOST FAVE!

this has to go to:
this book was a trip and a half and i still want to re-read it so i might just do that this year. i haven't read anything like that since and honestly, I'm not sure that i will since its not my usual genre.
def pick it up if you want a good read.

2017'S FAVES!

Jill Santopolo
this was also another fave.
i would also say that its my #1 because its different from The Hike.
I'm a hopeless romantic so this book ticked every box that my heart could ever desire.
i would definitely recommend this book to any lover out there.
added bonus! i won a copy of this book autographed by the author!!! i mean, COME ON!

John Green
another fave. haha. apparently, i have one for each genre.
but for YA i guess, this would be it.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!
i still hate that people hate on this book because its not TFIOS.
DUH PEOPLE!!!!
this is in my opinion, better.
seriously, read this book.

Lance Rubin
i originally read this in 2015 but i had to re-read it again because 1) its highlarious! and the first time i ate it up in one entire day and 2) because the sequel came out in 2017. it was good but the first will always be my fave. I'm bummed that they are now forever cemented in the book world and there will never be more (never say never) but I'm so glad to have had them in my life for as long as i did.
ill miss this gang.

Angie Thomas
i didn't LOVE this book but i definitely think this is an AMAZING read.
and i feel like it deserves to be up here more than in the liked section because this is an important book.
i think everyone needs to read this book to see what it's like when you're not the one being affected.
and i know that there's social media for all this injustice to show up on (because the news are just something else...) but for some of us that don't look at that (because i don't have the heart. there is just TOO much hate in the world for me to handle) this book shows you what it's like.
it shows me in a way that i don't need to see (because again, I'm not strong enough) but that i am able to understand by reading.
i think everyone needs to read this book at least once.
(i do see sometimes...I'm just not strong enough to stand to see it continuously because its so fucking unfair. i shouldn't have more rights because of my color just like i shouldn't have less because i am a woman. fucking wake up world! )

2017'S LIKED!

had me thinking for a quick second that i was guilty. really liked this book because it had me emotionally everywhere but it wasn't too heavy!

this book was so beautiful but soooooooo sloooooooooowwww!!!
a lot was happening while not a lot was happening. i definitely want to re-read this book but at least I'll know the pace of it so it might go better the second time around.

i remember being really happy (and crying at the end) to have read this book.
it didn't really stick to me cause i cant really remember much, but it was a good read. i think ill miss her little sister Kitty the most.

loved this read! third of hers i read and by far, my fave. looking forward to reading her other books!

I'm so glad i do spoilers cause i didn't remember much, but apparently i liked it.

i remember the story and i remember liking it.
i guess it was good.

loved it.

LOVE this man.
liked this story. cant wait to dive into the next one in the series!

gah! this book! so good. i loved it. it had me so invested!
good for a mystery murder quick read.

pretty funny but overall good read with insight into his fight to get to where he is at.
...and then he went and fucked shit up in 2017.

this got a lot of bad reviews on goodreads :( but i liked it. it wasn't anything serious. just a quick funny read.

liked this book. but i would like to eventually (not anytime soon) re-read. there are some parts that kinda just flew over me.

good end to this story. ill forever love this little family!

i believe this is a good read to start your year with when all you want is to purge everything. especially if you read that damn Marie Kondo book.

i liked this book. it might have been "far fetched" but lets face it, this world, it can be possible. but anyway, quick read. that ending! UGH!!!
karma is real dudes.
watch out.

2017'S MEH READS!

i just didn't care for this one.
finding out who blue was AND THEN still having more of the story left kinda killed it for me.

meh. wasn't a fave. had funny moments but I'm okay with it.

i just wanted to know why she left homeboy and when i found out, i wanted to slap her and the only reason i finished this book (besides it being an audio book) was the fact that there was only like 20 minutes left anyway.
this book is 600 pages long.
TOOO FREAKING LONG!

this was a huge hit with eeeeeveryone but me.
whatever this style is, post some shit or whatever, it just didn't work for me.
luckily i jumped, cheated and read the end so i know what happens.
but i just did not care for this book.

all i can think about is how Karma works. Suck it dude. that's what you get.

just stick to the webiste.
some of these should have NEVER been approved to be online. let alone on the book.

don't get me wrong, i actually really liked this book.
BUT ONLY WHEN IT WAS TALKING ABOUT WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT.
there's a lot of other facts and shit in here that I could have done without.
but when it was about Christopher Knight, it was pretty freaking good.

her kid was highlarious but overall, it was meh.

ugh. the mom was drama and it was all about Vanessa.
i hated this book. but not enough to land in the next category.

2017'S MOST HATED READS!

U G H!!!
these two sons of bitches irked me the fuck out!
lily is so UGH and dash is so U G H

this fucking book.
U G H
its not that it was bad because it 100% was not.
i just couldn't.
it irked me in so many ways.
like why tf did he get to get away with everything!!!!?
