rating: LOVED IT! super cheesy love story that I couldn't get enough of!!
When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it’s cute. At twenty-seven…well, not so much.
It’s just that my lofty dreams—making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily—have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I’ve decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I’ve settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.
That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town’s new vet.
With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it’s not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.
Like everyone else, I’m intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can’t refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he’ll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.
It’s too bad I underestimated Adam’s irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.
It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.

MY THOUGHTS
i LOVED THIS BOOK!
this is my 3rd RSG book & 2nd with a "mature" subject but by far my fave!
it was funny! i ABSOLUTELY loved Madeleine. i loved her character. she was sooo funny a lot of the time. so honest all of the time. she was all over the place and i loved it!
usually I'm not one for references so in 'the now' (meaning like twitter and instagram and just dumb stuff that has happened currently) but RSG was able to mention things without irking me like they usually do (i don't know why they irk me, they just do.)
for example: the comment about the highlights and it meaning that those type of people usually want to talk to a manager at chili's.
(a reference to the Kate +8 chicks haircut) it was soo funny! i highlighted most of the book at parts that made me laugh a lot. and i mean, i highlighted A LOT.
this book did everything it was supposed to do.
i basically read about 80% of it at work.
i was trying so hard not to laugh out loud for fear of getting caught.
i loved their story.
i love how real she made M as a 27 year old. i myself at 29 still don't have all my sh*t together. so i feel like her status in life made her easier to love and kind of compare too.
dead end (ish) job: check
broke: check
shitty love life: CHECK! (erm well, until about 2 years ago for me anyway! :D)
i loved Adam's character. and i can't really fault the guy for how he felt.
but i loved that he realized that he needed to snap out of it and kick his fear in the ass.
A & M both kind of reminded me of Lucy & Josh from The Hating Game, however i feel like Adam was softer as the main man character of the book but in no way did it ever take away from him in this book.
it was just nice to see something similar because i liked their story as well.
i loved the dogs!
i mean, who doesn't love dogs?
i loved it all.
thanks RS grey for an advance reader's copy.
I'm so glad i was given the chance to read thisspoilers after the jump!
thanks for reading.
(yes. i received a free copy BUT all thoughts are my own!)
Adam moves to a little town in Texas where Madeleine lives after deciding that he needed to leave Chicago and be closer to family (read: got his heart broken)
one day, M is walking Mouse to his vet appointment when he takes off running around the corner and he ends up muddy kissing Adam.
she freaks out, then freaks out more because Adam is a hottie and offers to pay for dry cleaning.
he tells her off about training her dog properly and takes off.
she proceeds to her appointment only to discover that Adam is her vet.
Adam is renting the place across from her brother and best friends house so Daisy (said best friend who also has her own book and i will be reading!) invites her to their housewarming party and of course Adam is there.
M is a realtor who has so far only sold one house; her brothers house so a bell goes off and she thinks "if I'm nice to him maybe i can score a sale off of him".
she comes off super weird.
Adam volunteers to take over a puppy training class and invites M to help her with Mouse.
she shows up and so does her rival Lori (who sells a house every 2 seconds).
she sees Lori take a leap at trying to sell Adam a house so she decides to take a jump and lets him know that she's a realtor and that she would love to sell him a house.
he gets mad.
then his mom shows up at his job and demands that he go over on Saturday for a family bbq but he says he can't because he has a date.
mom calls his bluff, so he decides "i'll ask M" to help cover up his lie. he calls and asks her for a favor (does not tell her what) and in exchange he'll let her sell him a house.
she of course says yes. and her preparation for that Saturday was the funniest.
they go and mom catches their lie RIGHT AWAY.
she confronts M in the kitchen and she tells her yea. that they just met....his mom decides to fuck with him and tell him that M told her all about the fabulous dates with camels and what not. (camels in texas? come on man).
he gets mad at her and then her car breaks down in the middle of the road.
and i think he disappears for a couple of days (he did this several times so...)
meanwhile, at work, M is still showing around Mr. Boggs, her only client who shows NO sign of buying a home anytime soon. (he's been passed around at the office and she was last resort.)
long story short, Adam left Chicago because he caught his 8 yr fiance sleeping with his best friend.
he ends up buying a house from M (the one she very so loved herself), tells her that he can't date her because he needs time to be free after being committed for so long. finally she "starts" seeing other people and then he snaps and realizes that they should be together.
and then his Ex Caroline comes back in the picture trying to make it work (that bitch held his dog hostage...well, kinda, but still) after the dude she cheated on him with cheated on her. -_________________________-
ugh
but of course, she walks into the gym where they're training the dogs declaring to be his finace. >:o and that sends M into another hot mess of a spin.
annnnyyyway, long (..er) story short, they end up together.
after she goes missing in the rain all night and no one could find her.
AND Mr Boggs ends up buying this hella expensive estate where she makes miiiilllions! (okay not that many but up there..) causing Lori to end up in the hospital after she fainted lol.
Mr. Dude was just trying to see who really deserved the millions they were going to make on that sale since it was a direct sale.
he knew what he wanted, he was just waiting for it to go up for sale.
so yea, they live happily ever after and yea.
read the book!
there's a lot i left out!
but its soo worth the quick read!
