SYNOPSIS
Andy Carter was happy. He had a solid job. He ran 5Ks for charity. He was living a nice, safe Midwestern existence. And then his wife left him for a handsome paramedic down the street.

We’re All Damaged begins after Andy has lost his job, ruined his best friend’s wedding, and moved to New York City, where he lives in a tiny apartment with an angry cat named Jeter that isn’t technically his. But before long he needs to go back to Omaha to say good-bye to his dying grandfather.

Back home, Andy is confronted with his past, which includes his ex, his ex’s new boyfriend, his right-wing talk-radio-host mother, his parents’ crumbling marriage, and his still-angry best friend.

As if these old problems weren’t enough, Andy encounters an entirely new complication: Daisy. She has fifteen tattoos, no job, and her own difficult past. But she claims she is the only person who can help Andy be happy again, if only she weren’t hiding a huge secret that will mess things up even more. Andy Carter needs a second chance at life, and Daisy—and the person Daisy pushes Andy to become—may be his last chance to set things right.

THOUGHTS

Matthew Norman has become an auto read for me.
I loved the last couple standing and I loved this one just as much. it was such a delight to find this one as a UK read.

it has been a while since i read this and i was more focused on writing out spoilers than i was thoughts but i do remember that i really liked this read. everything about it to me was perfect.

andy is going through his shit with his ex wife who we later on learn that no matter what or who, will never be happy. we see Andy with Daisy who, oooof!!!!!, in the end, my heart breaks for her! she...i loved her in the end. what she says about going to New York breaks my heart because i feel like ive been in the same place. that might have been my favorite part because of the emotions that were involved.
...Andy in the end, the way it all clicked in the end! i was so happy to see that. i definitely liked the ending. just this entire story. its funny and highlarious and i found myself laughing out loud a lot of the time and there wasnt a moment where i wished the story would hurry up and end.

its been a while so ill leave it here but know that i liked it so much im looking to buy this one as soon as i come across it!

jump over for spoilers!
thanks for reading! (:

* sorry for whatever misspellings there are....its been a while and honestly, im just being lazy AF.

Andy left to NYC on a whirlwind after he found out that his wife Karen who left him was already dating someone else....he happens to find out at his best friends wedding who happens to be Karen's twin brother. ...and not only is she dating this new dude but she is actually once again engaged.

Now he's back in Omaha a year later because his grandfather is dying; its only a matter of time. he can't put off not going home any longer.

Because its been a while,  ima just jump into it.

Turns out his wife left him for another dude whom she is now engaged to (he doesnt learn this until the end).

When he goes to visit his grandpa he notices a girl with tattoos across the street....she manages to get a hold of him and long story short, she knows who he is because she is friends with his grandpa. Truth is, grandpa found her on one of those web cam girl pages on line and the reason he likes her so much is because she reminds him of his wife who has passed some time ago...so he tells her things and thats how she knows that Andy is in a funk.

She "teaches" him how to kick start his life back up. They even go as far as hooking up.

At the end of it all, his mom exposes her for who she "really is" at a family dinner. Apparently grandpa had been giving her a lot of money and had even made her the sole beneficiary of his will which of course drives Andys mom nuts. (Daisy, cam girl above because i didn't mention her name, doesnt keep the will anyway. she never wanted a part of that. she was just genuinely there for grandpa.)

The day of the funeral, Andy's niece is crying and only wants to be comforted by him so he takes her outside and thats when he notices his ex wife.... its raining so he gets in her car and they talk. That's where he learns she's engaged. And where he learns that she's already thinking of walking away from him too.

Thats when Andy realizes that she'll never truly be happy no matter who she is with.

He finally sees Daisy after a long period of time and he tells her that he's going back to New York.

He asks her to go with him but she says she can't.
Because here is the kicker: For all the help she's giving him, she's afraid to leave; what if the man she loves shows up and has no way to reach her? How would he ever find her in New York!?
For as much help as she was preaching, she is going through the exact same thing without taking her own advice.

Andy makes it back to New York after everything and finally gets to go on his mystery date after being previously stood up by said mystery girl.
They end up having a perfect first date up on his roof. And it seems like she could end up being the one.

aaaaaannd that's the super basics!
Please note that I missed a helluva lot of other things.
