if you've followed my blog a bit, then you know this is my second time reading this book and I STILL LOVE IT!!! (original post here)
i decided to re-read it because the second book FINALLY came out and i wanted to know what i was jumping back into (cause i have horrible memory) and it did not disappoint. i was hooked once again and i found myself laughing hard a lot of the time like i remember doing the first time.
this book is everything!
i love Denton and Paolo and their friendship and their adventures and just everyone! and Millie!!! and Felix!!! and the stoner dude Willis Ellis!
just, i cant tell you how much love this book!
i wont over do it on this post, you can go read the "original" post if ya like so ill just jump to the spoilers.

Denton's mother died the day that he was born.
and now 17 years later, its his turn (with Paolo following behind him within a month.)
except that...it might not be that easy.
he heads home after spending the night in Veronica's bed the night before his death date day (say that fast 5 times) is supposed to start.
and from there on its just one adventure after another.
to cut this short....
Denton was injected by him mom....well maybe even Brian....its not really stated (they mention that it was his mother but.....) anyway, he's injected with a serum erm or a virus or whatever that means, that's supposed to protect him. except he doesn't know anything.
so he just turns purple.
and then red.
and then he cant even move.
and then midnight hits and boom!
he's alive, back to his regular color, and on the move.
turns out the virus (lets just call it that) (and i just realized it now that i re-read the book) is supposed to immobilize him little by little and more and more closer to midnight to help him fake his death and make it easier for him to escape.
and his mom is actually alive and been trying to get in touch with him via spam emails for penis enlargement pills. LOL!
except, he didn't really know it until he read the letter his dad gave him that his mother had written him when she was at her sitting.
Paolo's mom has had this drawer that since they were kids has ALWAYS been locked but of course, he catches a lucky break and finds it open the day before he is set to die.
turns out she's kept all sorts of pictures of him since he was a baby. (but i'm wondering if she left it open to let him see it. like she's kind of a bitch but shes trying to help him out.)
aaannd it turns out she's part of the government that wants him gone.
if he survives his death date, the program looks bad and loses funding.
its better for those involved to make sure you are dead than for you to survive and have it be a "miracle".
it just so happens that her son and Denton are so close in death dates that she can spy on him under the cover that she's just Paolos mom.
and it was actually her daughter Veronica that discovers this after she overhears her mom on the phone.
she tries to warn him when they're at the prom but of course he doesn't listen.
but that's probably because shes drunk as shit.
its at the prom when he notices that he's gone from purple to red and that he's started losing all movement.
his parents decided that enough is enough so they decide its time to go home but since he cant move..they have to make shift a wheelchair and while that's happening, his dad and brother take off to get the car.
once they're outside (Denton, mom, Paolo & Millie) his mom notices that his dad is taking forever and of course Phil's grandpa cop (Phil is the ex boyfriend of Taryn who was dating Denton and Grandpa was in charge of keeping an eye on Denton) is there and distracts her so that Paolo's mom can take him away (Paolo & Millie went to look for D's dad). she takes him, stuffs him in the car and now they're on the run....til Felix catches up to them with everyone in the van.
had his mom not injected him with the serum (i know i said id use virus but that sounds blegh!) this would have DEFINITELY been his death date because twice already, he was about to get run over by a yellow sports car.
so they're on the run and she's trying to shake them and boom.
she crashes into a car.
that yellow sports car that almost ran D over.
twice.
(this is the spoiler zone so ill just tell you that the driver was Willis Ellis the stoner.)
since D wasn't wearing his seat belt he basically flies through the front window BUT because he has the serum in him, he doesn't really suffer anything.
he gets taken to the hospital along with everyone else...they fight for him but because his death date is over in 3 minutes.....with a countdown going on, eventually the doctor who fights for him hands him over to Grandpa cop.
and then Felix saves the day.
well so does Brian but in the end its Felix.
he takes off to the train stain and off to New York he goes.
and meets with his mom.
AND NOW I'M OFF TO READ THE SECOND BOOK BECAUSE OMG!!!
