Nameless book 6: memories of tomorrow // Dean Koontz

published: 2019
pages: 55

*I'm skipping 14 & 15 to post this series together and will come back to those 2 after im done with this series.
the past is never the past. without forgetting, there is no future for me.

What strange science made Nameless who he is? What catastrophes have been erased from his memories? In the stunning conclusion of this series, the dark past comes flooding back, and Nameless must decide how much he really wants to know.

In Indiana, a murderous psycho has kidnapped his own six-year-old stepson, Jamie, and secreted him away in a subterranean cave. It’s become their bunker. For Nameless, the case is breaking down his defenses, and it may force him to face his memories.

THOUGHTS
huh.
okay.

well, here we finally are.
the end.

i gotta say with this book i feel like i expected a little bit more as far as Jamie and his whole story.
i feel like it happened so fast. it felt like his story should have taken a little bit longer to conclude but it happens in the blink of an eye.
but maybe that was the point...it gets "easier" because Nameless knows what he's doing or because he's starting to remember...?
iduno.
i just know that that was a liiiiiiitle bit of a letdown.

you do learn the back story of Nameless and why he is the way he is and its sad but its...iduno.

this last book felt somewhat rushed.

as for the end of the series.....well, honestly, i think i have to maybe read this book one more time because i'm like whatever's about it.
as a whole story (all 6 of them), they were good but maybe not the best of the best.
i'm kinda on both ends about this.
i like it and i'm glad i bought the short stories (even though they are free for Unlimited Kindle) but mostly, i'm just waiting for his new book out next month. and i still stand with book #3 being my fave!

i'm glad i heard these. i feel like even if it didn't end super amazingly great, it still overall was a good series. i'm just ready for the next book release!

jump over for spoilers!
kthxbyye!

SPOILERS

Jaime's step father went crazy thinking people were out to kill him or something so he killed his wife and her parents and then kidnapped Jaime and they are now currently hiding underground. its only been 3 weeks but the cops have moved on.

Nameless enters the cave and after several tries, locates them.

They're on their way to shower when Jaime locks eyes with Nameless. the stepfather is all wtf! but Nameless just shoots him point blank.
he takes Jamie out and takes him to i think his dad's sisters house.
he explains to her what she needs to say to the cops and Jamie has also been trained.
should the kid ever need assistance in college, they got his back.

he leaves.

he's on to his next stop.

he stops at a diner for truckers or whatever, i forgot, and he starts having visions again.
he sees a kid with a toy rabbit like the girl in his vision.
he's all do you have a sister and the kids says yes but she's older.

he goes to the bathroom, sees a guy who's all bad vibes, waits til he leaves and then leaves himself.

as he's leaving, to be honest i zoned out but there's something about some guys stealing gasoline? or idk...its bigger than what i'm saying it is.
he ends up killing some guy and injuring another.

he texts Ace and tells him what just went down and he is now instructed to go elsewhere.

he meets a crew at a hotel idk where and thats when you learn who Nameless is!

he's actually the man behind Ace. he's rich up the ass to the left. no, the right, cause if you go left negative numbers.....anyway, yea.
he runs ace with his own father.
and it turns out that the girl and woman and unknown boy in his vision is actually his wife and kids.

in the diner he was having visions as if what he was seeing all along was something that was about to happen but in actuality it was in the past.

he was starting to remember..just not in the right timeline.

he was going home from idk where but he took a different limo from his wife and daughter because he had work to do and he didn't want to be interrupted.
that's when terrorist attacked and hit the bridge they were driving in.
the unknown boy was the child his wife was pregnant with at the time of her death.

so he erased his own mind and set up Ace to help everyone else to make up for the fact that he failed his own family.

....im sure i fucked these spoilers up one way or another but that's the gist of it.

and we are done!
