MY THOUGHTS
i found this book through instagram on RS Grey's page. the author, Julie Olivia was letting her know that thanks to her she was able to start, finish and is about to publish her first book so then i was like maybe there's an ARC! and there was and i asked for it and i was lucky enough to get a copy so thaaaanks, JO!
i have no idea why I'm asking for books when i have a mountain of library books to read but i was able to get one and i jumped in right away and i absolutely loved it!
i loved it so much I'm not even mad its part of a series. I'm so not mad that i cannot wait for book 2! I'm so not mad that i hope book 3 is somehow about Ramona & Wes and their love story!

...i mean, i didn't. but i think we can all admit that book covers like these always get judged as a liiiiittttle bit corny BUT man, am i so happy that i read this book.
yes you know there is chemistry and yes, you know they are going to hook up and end up together but its all the in between that makes the story and this one was so good!
i loved it!
i loved all the strong dislikes at first, how feisty she was (and still is) and how she wasn't, for lack of a better phrase, a dumb damsel in distress who lost all her wits about herself once she scored the dude she's been wanting to hook up with.
Grace had been in a dead end relationship prior to this but i love that she realizes her worth and that no one is going to do the work her if its forward that she wants to move.
and i love even more that as much as she does want to be with Cam, she knows that she needs to look out for herself.
i love the friendship with Ramona. i love Ramona and her husband Wes' relationship.
i love Cam & Ian' friendship. i loved Ian's playful whatever you want to call it with Nia.
basically i loved everything about this story and almost a month out i still find myself sometimes thinking about this crew.
by this point, y'all know i HATE picking up series or trilogies or whatever because i haaaate waiting for the next one to come out but in this case, I'm so excited that we get to get more of this gang and I'm excited just in general that there is more!
when has that ever happened!?

Grace moves into her own apt with the help of her bff Ramona and her husband Wes (whose relationship i loved and hope we get the back story in its own book!) after she finally left Joe, her cheating ex. he go the keep the house they bought. ugh!
Ramona lets Grace now that they are hiring at her brothers company so she applies.
she goes for the interview and she gets it!
on her first day, she is supposed to meet with Cameron but he is suuuuper late. finally someone comes out and they start talking. she thinks he's here for an interview (cause he told her) and she lets him know that she's here on her first day but Cameron is super late and other stuff.....low and behold, that dude was Cameron.
off to a bad - ish start.
anyway, she gets in, she gets settled, she's a fiery little one.
and Cameron can't stand it.
but there is sexual tension.
at least on Grace's part.
she thinks he's hot AF.
Joe, her ex, keeps texting her to meet up and she finally agrees to dinner (because her mom told her that she might as well make him pay for dinner while she gets to tell him what a piece of shit he is). they meet up, he feeds her the usual bullshit telling her he wants her back and he cant live without her AND THEN!!!! (and probably one of my favorite parts!), he tells her that he's met someone else but that he will leave her in a heartbeat if she goes back to him.
(oh! the reason they broke up was because he was cheating on her meeting other women on dating apps.)
she gets pissed, tells him to fuck off, drives home but is so pissed she goes to a bar near her apt.
meanwhile, Cameron.
he was dating Abby for 5 years but she was getting restless cause WHEN IS HE GOING TO PROPOSE!!!!!!! (her thoughts not mine!)
at work they have beer Fridays. and because Cameron is in some shit with HR since he is always late, as part of his punishment, he is to work a beer Friday....i mean, someone has to serve the beer lol.
he hasn't gotten laid in a while. and he thinks it also has to do with the fact that he doesn't put in the effort so he convinces Ian (Ramona's brother) to cover the rest of the shift.
he goes home to surprise Abby but he's the one that ends up surprised.
he walks in on some naked dude and his balls over the sofa. and Abby telling the dude its his turn to walk buddy (cam's dog).
the naked dude is all wtf, pulls on buddy's collar which drives Cam crazy and he launches at him.
the next day he's at work with a black eye.
Ian and Grace are all wtf!
he's moved into this apt and is living his most minimalist life. Ian comes over tries to take him out, doesn't succeed so he leaves. (I THINK) he gets a call from Abby and he gets all mad so he's all fuck this and goes out to a bar.
here he is at a bar all drunk.
here comes in Grace after her shit show dinner.
she sees him and goes to sit with him.
she can tell he's tore up.
they stay they have one more drink and he's hellaaaaa hitting on her.
he tells her about Abby, the drama between them, the fight...all that.
eventually, she takes him home because he is wasted.
but he is so wasted that she stays with him because she doesn't want him to die or something lol.
i should note that they live in the same apt complex (its one of those big multiple building ones)
the next day at work, he's hungover AF but he remembers EVERYTHING that he told Grace.
they flirt for days so on and so on.
one day, she needs to take her dog Hank to the vets (the previous day, they were hella flirting to the point that they both made it very clear that hooking up was on the table) and it ends up being that he needs surgery.
she tells Cam she wont be in and he ends up meeting her there.
when she got to the vets, she parked idk where basically illegally so her car has been towed so Cam gives her a ride. at this point, she knows where he lives but he doesn't know where she lives.
she gives in, they drive in circles, Cam is all wtf...and she finally directs them home.
cam is all wtf, i live here and she's all yea but so do i. he asks her why she never said anything and she simply says because its too easy for them to hook up which is hard because he's her boss and she's the employee and they cant hook up.
they don't talk for a month.
then one day, she gets invited to Ramona's for movie nights so she goes.
she walks in and who is on the sofa!?
Cameron. (looool full circle!)
Ramona invited Ian and Ian took Cameron.
she is still being distant during dinner but little by little they all start talking about their past, she lets loose and they sit together watching the movie. eventually they're talking to each other again.
movie is over, he walks her out, one of them makes a move and they end up back at her place.
they finally hook up.
they do the whole fooling around thing for a while at home and work.
i didn't mention this earlier but Cameron doesn't like his job. Grace does.
he wants to be an architect but is afraid and Grace is always asking why but he never answers her why he wont do it.
one day, they are at his apt and they get in a huge fight.
she walks out on him for being insensitive to her and her job. and that's its for them.
he does something he never thought he'd do.
he calls Abby.
back to work....time passes, they work together with clients.
one day he calls her to the office....he tells her he wants only her.
and Nia and Ian walk in on them. (Nia is HR).
they go to Nia's office and Cam quits.
the reason he called Abby was to get a contract to work as an architect. i think she works with a client they were working with when he was still working at Treasuries Inc with Grace.
the epilogue is 2 years later from Cams POV.
he has built them a home and they now live together, engaged, planning their wedding.
book 2 is about Ian and Nia and i cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
