THOUGHTS
this book was the cutest fucking thing ever!
this was exactly what i needed. it was a cute breezy read that didn't require too much thought and i loved the entire cast. especially Fleur. (am i spelling that right? idk. im too lazy to check.) it was so light and easy to read through that 3 days after finishing it, i find myself still thinking about it. (its been a year plus and ive thought about it because i've seen it around IG lately. i don't think ill reread it any time soon but i know i might sometime in the future.)
the reason i picked this book as my book of the month pick was simply because Minnie's bday falls on new years day. and so does Quinns.

and just like me, Minnie hates to celebrate her bday.....except i just hate it because of who i am not because of any type of bad luck or anything like that.

i liked that Quinn doesn't fight his feels. i mean, he does but because its a psychological thing....not because he's being a dick.
im so used to enemies to lovers that when i get books where they just go for it (even if there is a little bit of trouble along the way) i love it! (i mean this is only my second one The Honey-Don't List was my first.)
minnie was a mess but tbh, that was all her mother. UGH her mother pissed me the fuck off.
it made me realize that as parents we have a lot of responsibility in how we raise our kids, (why am i saying we? im nowhere near having kids!) ...but anyway, it just made me realize how easy it is to damage kids ....maybe even without knowing that we are doing it. in this case, i do feel like the mom knew but im trying to be nice here.
there are "heavier" issues that are talked about and maaaaaaybe not handled all that well, or like, resolved but im choosing to just look past it because if i think about it, well, Minnie's mom is a nurse so i can see how she handled it herself to an extent.
anyway, im not really feeling chatty so ill leave it at that.
perfect read for when you just want to read a book that doesn't require too much of you.

SPOILERS
minnies mom was in the hospital at the same time as quinns mom.
there was this thing going around where the first baby born in the new year would win x amount of money which is what mins mom was going for.
but of course q's mom (i think tara was her name) was there and wasnt doing so great. m's mom helped her out telling her what to do and what to expect and they basically bonded so hard core that they told both their husbands to leave em alone til it was pushing time.
to help tara relax, m's mom told her about how she wanted to name Minnie Quinn because it was a good luck name and all this other shit.
off goes Tara to have her baby and love and behold, not only did she have the baby first and win the money but she also took Quinn's name and named her kid Quinn leaving Minnie nameless and with a "bad luck curse".
present time:
minnie is going to a new years eve party with her bf greg.
she hates going out but knows this means a lot to him so she goes along.
she loses her jacket. a girl pukes on her shirt, she goes into the party looking suuuuper out of place.
she goes to the bathroom, the door lock thing breaks.
she's stuck in the bathroom all night long.
she's not freed until 7 am in the morning the next day!!!!!!!!!! by Q himself! (i know the party was at a club or whatever and maybe there was more than one bathroom but like seriously!?)
anyway, she knows who he is...and she tells him.
he tries to take her to breakfast but she doesnt go for it.
she goes home, realizes her keys were in her now lost coat, she goes to her friends house. the landlord finally comes back and lets her in....and also tells her she's basically getting evicted.
she takes a pill and goes to sleep.
im being lazy here so basically her entire 30 years of life, her mother has insistently beat it into her that she's bad luck no matter what and all because she's super bitter that her name and money got jacked.
and well, here i am a year later and i didnt finish this up so this is where im ending this.

but Minnie does end up with Quinn and well, whenever i reread, ill update the spoilers there.
