modern romance // aziz ansari

released: 6/16/2015
isbn: 978-1594206276 // 288 pages
read from: 6/25 to 11/24 2015 // started reading the book and finished it with Audible

I'm not sure why it took me 5 (!!!) months to finish this because it was not bad at all but geesh!!!

i LOVE Aziz. from the stand up I've heard, his movies and Parks & Rec, this dude is awesome!
so when this book was out, i had to buy it. i actually bought it the very day it came out. i was so excited to start this book and i did while i was still at my second job but for some reason it took second seat to all the other stuff I've read since.

anyways, not to take anything away from this book, but its actually a really good read.
id pick it up read so far in and then put it down, buy another book and then completely forget about it. ( yes i know, that's not helping the case i want to make.)

for some reason i had 1 audible credit and while i was still half asleep, without hesitation i instantly decided that this would be the book id use my credit on. (which by the way, daaaamn those audiobooks are hella expensive!)

turns out i loved getting the book read to me by Aziz himself.
he's really funny on there.
what i like about this book is that it isn't an autobiography or short stories on himself (which i wont lie, i wanted and i still wouldn't mind) but basically just a bunch of research on dating and love. back then and now.
.....and i honestly have to say, i don't know whether to think that as part of this generation we're either
a) EXTREMELY lucky that we have the options that we do have and that we don't have to settle for the first thing we land on or
b) we're all completely fuck*d because of all the infinite possibilities out there and eventually the way we are all treating relationships now

if I'm being honest in my opinion though, i think its A to a certain extent.
but i think its solely based upon the type of person that you are.
if you are an open dater and you want to be with different people all the time then by all means, you do you.
but just like that, i am a monogamous person. when i date one person its just that one person (SPECIALLY if sex is involved because if i get pregnant, I'm going to know who the father is!) but in all seriousness, myself, i love commitment. and i think what i have now is great. could there be better out there? iduno. honestly, yea. maybe.
but I'm not out there looking for it. I'm beyond happy with what i got with B.
i 100% believe everything happens for a reason (not to say that would justify cheating if that were to ever happen)
see, prior to my bf i had been single for 2 years and i wasn't actively looking for anyone. then one day at an event that i didn't even know i was going to (my friend bought the tickets) while i was standing waiting for a band to come out, there he was. he turned around, he said hello and that was it. 6 months later, here we are doing the damn thing. and i absolutely love it.
you get what you give. truer words never spoken.

all of that just to say that if ya wanna read a book about statistics on dating, relationships and being single past, present and future, this is the one.
and just to let you in on a little secret! if you want to know but you don't want to read the book, watch Master of None on netflix.
that show is basically what the book is about.
its also a pretty darn good show. i binged watched it and I'm ready to do a second round.

i love you Aziz.
keep doing you boo.

and now i leave you with a quote.
because if you can honestly say this to anyone and 100% mean it, you are with the right one. no doubt about it.

"You are the lotion that moisturizes my heart. Without you my heart has eczema."

thx for reading :*

Lumnia inside the OC Fair

you snooze and then you wake up one day and realize "HOLY CRAP! i got stuff to post!"

last week the bf and i took a week long vacation and i took SO MANY pictures that I'm beyond excited to share them!!!!
but of course, before i can share those, i HAVE to post all my other adventures! (insert exhausted emoji face) i think my love for blogging is back. sometimes you just need a bit of time!
eek!!

a few months ago, i think in June? no, July. actually i don't remember, we went to the OC fair (so i think it was actually in September maybe) and once inside, after dark and after we had walked around a bit, the boyfriend and i stumbled upon Lumnia inside the fair.
for a $5 fee you got to see this exhibition and let me tell you, best $10 i have ever spent! (once, at coachella, i spent $10 on a rainbow headband that i have never since used so, you know.)

anyways, as always, here are a load of pictures! <3
(im so excited to be excited about finally posting again!!!)

upon entering they had a bunch of these going down the entry pathway. so pretty!!!
B is PETRIFIED of snakes. so of course when i saw this i HAD to make him pose with it
i don't think the flamingo craze has gone away yet. and I'm a-okay with it! i love them!
santa monica pier
don't judge! but i think this is at the LAX. cant hold it against me, i haven't flown since i was 15? and even then that was at a different airport.
the LACMA lights
months later i took B to see the real deal. best date night ever! <3
i, leslie, am not a dodgers fan. (all of LA has a heart attack)

this was such a super fun experience,
B didnt really want to go but of course i made him and of course he LOVED it.
he was more excited than i was.

i think i have more pictures on my camera...if they're worth it, ill go ahead and post them but for now this is all i got.

have a great Tuesday! <3
and get ready for the upcoming posts!

Disneyland!

my sister bought me a Disneyland pass last year around this time, actually Nov 1st. (i remember cause i had just gotten home from my cousins house after our Halloween bar hopping the night before. i was still dressed as Louise, but the hungover version. lol)

anyways, she bought me the pass for my birthday and i was ecstatic.

unfortunately, i did not go as often as i thought i would which is weird because she also bought me the parking pass which...come on!!!! parking alone is $18
the first time i got my pass in 2012 (i think) i went 13 times alone the first month and i had no parking pass then.

this time around, my pass expired 11/5.

so i went on my last day, by myself (i LOVE going by myself) and i managed to get these amazing (to me) pictures.
gotta LOVE my galaxy s6.
these are completely untouched in anyway, no filter (except the one with the heart) mostly because im 100% lazy to do so and because i love them as is.
i love love LOVE how they look and i feel completely lucky to have been able to catch these pictures.

this night, Disney closed at 9. so after the fireworks, i wandered towards the back and insert heart eyes emoji. empty Disneyland is the best for pictures.
this one is completely random. i just liked the mosaic tile.

ill miss ya Disney.

ill be back eventually.....maybe after they build starwars land.....not because im a starwars fan (ive never even seen the movies) but because why am i going to spend $100+ to walk around a construction zone.

wah!

the rise of the jack o'lanterns

i love love LOVE halloween!

...but this year, i just wasn't in the mood to decorate or do anything.
having 2 jobs was just, oof, and so the last thing i wanted to do was decorate. specially since i was working weekends.

so, when i saw a deal on living social for Rise of The Jack O'Lanterns, i thought i'd give it a try and turned it in to a date night with B and it was a blast!!!!
he ended up having more fun that we both thought possible.

as always, here's a couple (a lot!) of pictures.
theres not much i could do in the lighting dept. it was either too dark to snap a decent picture and the pumpkins were too far back to get a good one. (i completely forgot to take my camera with me) or they were right under a lamp light and with the light inside the pumpkin, it was a hot mess.

...so this was the best i could do.

but i will say this!, if you are ever able to catch it, please do! you wont be disappointed.

halloween, i miss you already!!!!!

yea, the carved ones are great and all but the emoji ones.....
eeek!!! <3
